DESPERATE DEMS LAUNCH FALSE ATTACK ON KEN YAGER AS OBAMA SINKS IN RURAL TENNESSEE
October 9th, 2008
NASHVILLE, TN - With Barack Obama’s support in rural Tennessee drying up, Tennessee Democrats are getting desperate to save the campaigns of local Obamacrats like Becky Ruppe by launching an attack ad against Republican state Senate candidate Ken Yager.
The ad falsely depicts Yager as tax-raiser, even though the Roane County property tax rate was lower, the county’s credit rating was higher, and its economy humming when Yager left office after 24 years as County Executive than it was when he first entered the office - thanks to Yager’s responsible fiscal management and his success in economic development.

National survey of job creators finds big fear of Obama’s economic policies.
NASHVILLE, TN - With election day fast approaching and Tennessee’s unemployment rate rising, the Tennessee Republican Party urges business executives, entrepreneurs, the workers they employ and anyone who would like to see more jobs to take a closer look at the risky economic policies offered by Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats.
“On the national level, Barack Obama promises to raise taxes on millions of small business, and to create new regulations that will drive up the cost of doing business,” said Bill Hobbs, Communications Director for the Tennessee Republican Party. “On the state level, Obama’s fellow Democrats routinely push legislation that would mandate a state minimum wage, mandate how much sick and vacation leave employers must offer and weaken the state’s Right to Work laws.

Belmont University Deserves Mountains of Praise and Thanks for a Job Well Done
NASHVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Republican Party today congratulates Belmont University on a job well done, and extends its gratitude to the university’s leadership, staff and students for their work in producing the history-making 2008 Town Hall Presidential Debate.
“Democracy requires participation, and benefits from passion and enthusiasm, and the passion and enthusiasm with which Belmont University participated in the 2008 campaign was evident in the Debate and all of the preparations for it and all of the related events,” said Robin Smith, Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party. “As Tennesseans, as participants in politics, and as Americans, we could not be more proud of the job that Belmont did.
“Belmont’s tireless pursuit of being selected to host a debate, which began before the first shovel of dirt was moved to turn an old parking lot into the Curb Event Center where the Debate was held, even continuing after the university’s first bid was rejected in 2004, is an excellent example to anyone of the value of having big dreams and pursuing them with persistence,” Smith said. “Thank you, Belmont.”
