NASHVILLE, Tenn.- January 20, 2016 – The House Finance Subcommittee today passed legislation that continues Tennessee’s education reform movement.
The Tennessee Republican Party applauded the move.
TNGOP Chairman Ryan Haynes believes it is more evidence of the sharp contrast with Tennessee Democrats who are committed to going back on the progress Tennessee teachers and students have made in recent years.
“Whether it is by coronating another Clinton to champion old policies nationally or fighting to return us to the days of lackluster results in Tennessee, it is evident that Democrats are the party of failed ideas. This is especially so in education. With few exceptions, Democrats controlled our state for 150 years and all that got us was a permanent seat at the bottom of national education rankings. In just five years, Republican leadership has made us the most-improved state in education,” said Haynes.
“Republicans believe every child deserves access to a quality education, and the achievements our students and teachers have made prove that,” he concluded.
